Carlos Fuchs e Água de Moringa
Água de Moringa, one of the most important choro groups in Brazil, celebrates its 30-year career in 2019. Created by true masters of Brazilian instrumental music who teach in some of the most important schools of Rio de Janeiro, Água de Moringa perform at Casa da Música with a special guest, pianist and composer Carlos Fuchs, known for the cinematic character of his songs. Fuchs’ solo piano language has been masterfully adapted to the sextet’s unique sound and arranged by the six musicians, merging two worlds that, although distinct, complement each other.
Wojtek Mazolewski Quintet
Since the release of Polka in 2014, Polish double bassist Wojtek Mazolewski and his quintet have gained international recognition while simultaneously breaking several boundaries of jazz. They have performed at some of the biggest rock and indie festivals, as well as jazz and dance clubs. Polka was platinum in Poland and had the best reviews from the international press – it was considered one of the top five jazz albums of last year by DownBeat. Combining tradition and modernity, the quintet’s analog sound is reminiscent of jazz classics as well as the vibrant Polish jazz scene of the 1960s and 1970s, and is influenced by electronic music with echoes of Miles Davis, Eric Dolphy, Led Zeppelin and Nirvana.
