Rabih Abou-Khalil & Joachim Kühn feat. Jarrod Cagwin “Journey to the Centre of An Egg”
Lebanese Rabih Abou-Khalil has established himself as a world-class performer and composer, with an unrestrained approach that combines traditional Arabic music with western classical music and jazz, building a language that goes beyond the existing musical dialects. He brings his acclaimed trio to Casa da Música, a project that includes German pianist Joachim Jühn – a musician who has recorded about 60 records as both leader and sideman – and eclectic percussionist Jarod Cagwin, a keen student of Middle Eastern and West African percussion techniques. Together they revisit an acclaimed album released in 2004, Journey to the Center of an Egg, an excursion around the globe that combines mainstream jazz and world music. Percussion, oud and piano build a musical landscape that mirrors the multiple influences of each musician.
Ricardo Toscano Trio Featuring Special Guest Ali Jackson
When Ricardo Toscano recorded his music with a national quartet, he confirmed what many had expected: besides being a saxophonist very well versed in the jazz tradition, who always performed with authenticity and originality, he has a challenging inner world ready to be shown. He was a revelation even before the age of 20, with the Young Musicians Award, and received high praise from musicians such as Mário Laginha, and now that he is over 25, he presents himself as an unavoidable saxophonist of Portuguese jazz. He brings to Casa da Música his international trio with two well rounded figures in collaborations with big names of jazz.
