  • Coro Casa da Música returns to the golden period of Portuguese polyphony, with works by Pedro de Cristo, kapellmeister of Santa Cruz Monastery (1597-1618), Duarte Lobo, kapellmeister of Lisbon Cathedral (1591-1639) and Manuel de Correia, composer of the next generation who mainly worked in Spain. Central name of the Spanish Renaissance polyphony is Tomás Luis de Victoria, one of the most outstanding European composers of his time with a language that combines mystical fervour with a very personal intimacy. On another level, this concert includes a very recent triptych by contemporary Irish composer David Fennessy.
